Free Landfill Drop This Saturday

The City of Longmont is offering residents an opportunity to take one level pickup load free of charge to the Front Range Landfill at 1830 Weld County Road 5 in Erie from 6 am to 2 pm on Saturday, May 13. Loads must be covered and secured for transport; oversized loads and second loads will be billed. Please take a photo ID and a copy of your current utility bill to show that you are a City of Longmont customer. For more information visit LongmontColorado.gov/solidwaste or call 303-651-8416.

Volunteer for Downtown Clean & Green

Help spruce up downtown during the Downtown Clean & Green event from 8 to 11 am on Saturday, May 20. Volunteers are needed to clean up around parking lots, alleys, breezeways, sidewalks, and other structures in the Downtown District. Go with a friend or form a team. Coffee with Council on May 20 

Longmont City Council will host Coffee with Council from 9 to 10 am on Saturday, May 20, at the OUR Center, 220 Collyer Street. You can talk informally with at least two council members on any topic of your choice, and the coffee’s on us! Council Members Bagley and Christensen are scheduled to attend. Longmont Peace Officer Memorial Service

The public is invited to attend the Peace Officer Memorial from 1 to 2 pm on Wednesday, May 17, on the front steps of the Longmont Safety and Justice Building, 225 Kimbark Street. The Longmont Police Department will pay tribute to police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2016.

Be Prepared for High Water in Ditches and Creeks

The peak season for creek flooding and flash floods in Longmont and surrounding areas runs from May through September. During this time, City of Longmont staff watch conditions in the area with a keen eye. Additional monitoring is mobilized through the Creek Watch program if predetermined flood triggers are met. Read the news release.

Register for the Library’s Summer Kickoff Party

Say goodbye to school and hello to summer at the Library’s annual Summer Kickoff Party from 5:30 to 8 pm on Wednesday, May 24, at Sunset Pool. Bocce Ballooza Tournament for Charity

Register now for Bocce Ballooza from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm on Saturday, May 20, at Stephen Day Park, 1340 Deerwood Drive. Proceeds will benefit SCOPE of Longmont and Special Olympics athletes of Colorado. The Regional Transportation District is considering service changes and wants to know how you travel around the area. Search RTD Survey on the City's website by May 22 to take the short survey. Eleven survey respondents will win a $25 gift card.

Art and Music at Callahan Open House

The Historic Callahan House and Garden at 312 Terry Street is hosting an Open House with tours from 4 to 8 pm on Saturday, May 20. Admire works created by local artists while you enjoy live music in the garden. Admission is free and the public is welcome.
