Halloween Parade and Trick or Treat Street
Kids and adults of all ages can be part of the 41st annual free Halloween costume foot parade at 10 am on Saturday, October 28. Lineup begins at 9:30 in Roosevelt Park, 700 Longs Peak Avenue. Dress in your Halloween costume and march on Main Street then visit participating Downtown merchants for Trick or Treat Street immediately following the parade. No registration is required, and strollers or wagons are recommended for tiny feet. No motorized vehicles are allowed, and dogs are welcome but must be leashed and under control. Drop Off Old and Unused Medicines for Free
Unused drugs discarded down the drain can pass through the wastewater plant and into St. Vrain Creek without treatment. Longmont residents can take them instead to a free drop-off event from 8 am to 2 pm on Saturday, October 28, in the main lobby of Longmont United Hospital, 1950 Mountain View Avenue. Pills, capsules, liquids, inhalers, patches, etc. are welcomed. No needles, thermometers, controlled substances, medical equipment, personal care products, household hazardous wastes, or business wastes accepted. Celebrate Day of the Dead at the Library
Take your family to the Library at 409 4th Avenue for a bilingual celebration of Day of the Dead/Fiesta de los Muertos from 3 to 4:30 pm on Sunday, October 29. Enjoy dancing, food, crafts, and more! All ages welcome. No registration required.

Candidates for Longmont elected office have recorded video messages to voters that can be seen at various times throughout the day on Longmont Comcast Cable Channel 8 and at its website at LongmontChannel.com.

Ballot Drop-off Locations

Longmont voters can drop off their ballots at several locations throughout the city including the Boulder County Clerk and Recorder’s Office at 6th Avenue and Coffman Street, Boulder County Fairgrounds, Garden Acres Park, and the YMCA. Serve Your City on a Board or Commission

There are 22 boards and commissions that advise the Longmont City Council in a number of areas, including historic preservation, planning and zoning, public art, senior services, transportation, and parks and recreation. Take Advantage of Curbside Leaf Collection

The City of Longmont offers residents free curbside collection of bagged leaves every fall. Know the rules, tips and schedule to be ready! Pick up free leaf bags at the Waste Diversion Center, 140 Martin Street, while supplies last. Only one pass will be made through each neighborhood, so be sure to have leaves out before 7 am on the Monday of your designated leaf pick-up week. Find the schedule online at LongmontColorado.gov/solidwaste or call 303-651-8416. If you miss the curbside collection, the Waste Diversion Center accepts yard waste all year. You also can sign up for composting service to enjoy curbside collection of yard waste and more.

Time to Register for the Turkey Trot

The City of Longmont will host the 43rd Annual Turkey Trot on Veterans Day, Saturday, November 11. This year’s race, at Altona Middle School, 4600 Clover Basin Drive, features two courses: a 10K (with a wheelchair division) and a 2-mile option. Entry fees range from $18 to $30. Dress in your finest American turkey spirit costume and get ready to dash, trot, and gobble your way to the finish line! Race proceeds go to the Recreation Youth Scholarship Program, offering Longmont residents 17 and younger $100/year to use for select recreation activities. Halloween for Little Ghouls and Goblins

Head to the Library at 409 4th Avenue on Tuesday, October 31, for fun ghost stories and songs before the annual Halloween Costume Parade through the Civic Center. Wear a costume and bring a trick-or-treat bag! There are two sessions of frightful fun: one from 10:15 to 10:45 am and one from 11 to 11:30 am. No registration required for this program.

Shred Your Private Documents for Free

Take boxed or bagged papers to be shredded to the Waste Diversion Center at 140 Martin Street between 9 am and 2 pm on Saturday, November 4. This is for residential documents only; no business documents accepted. Please also take ID and a copy of your most recent Longmont utility bill.
