Wintertime Bingo is back to lighten the winter gloom

Adults can spin the wheel
Longmont Public Library

The Longmont Library’s popular Wintertime Bingo program is back to cut through the gloom of the cold, dark months of the year, say organizers.

Bingo for both kids and adults has been around for several years with the winners bringing home books, gift cards or library swag. The game was run during the lockdown, and the library brought the prize wheel and prizes out to folks at curbside, said Librarian Josie Brockmann.

“Adults always enjoy spinning the wheel and always leave with a prize,” Librarian Josie Brockmann said. “It has been a success and will hopefully be one again this season.”

Starting Friday, Dec. 17 kids and teens will have a chance to pick up their BINGO cards from Children’s and Teen’s Services Desk on the main floor of the library. Those cards must be turned in by Sunday, Jan. 9, to receive a prize, according to a city of Longmont news release.

For adults, the wintertime BINGO session will start Monday, Jan. 3, by pickup a card from the Information Desk on the second floor and returning the card by Monday, Feb. 28.

During each WINTERTIME BINGO timeframe, players can read books, watch movies, listen to audiobooks and when a patron hits BINGO, the player can turn in their cards to the appropriate desk, the news release said.

Younger readers will receive a prize from the Children’s and Teens Librarians when they turn in their BINGO cards while supplies last. There is one one prize per reader, the news release states.

Adults playing in the second time frame, will be able to spin a prize wheel on the second floor of the library to get either a free book, a Ziggi’s Coffee gift card, a Longmont Library branded bag or book-themed swag. There will be a limit of two prizes for each patron, the news release states.
