Employees 70 and older are getting vaccinations right now, according to Superintendent Don Haddad.

"In a time where we are trying to address the needs in a global pandemic in educating our students, we need the Legislature to prioritize funding for our students, and for our public schools," said Amie Baca-Oehlert, a high school counselor and president of the Colorado Education Association.

“If you fear for your family’s health, it is not required that you take your children to school to take the test since this year the ACCESS test is voluntary,” Lucinda Soltero-Gonzalez tells families in a Spanish public service announcement airing on local Spanish-language radio and television. 

The changes were highlighted during Wednesday’s school board meeting, at which the district’s annual report required by the Colorado Safe Schools Act was discussed. The report summarizes the district’s safety and security activities from July 1, 2019, to June 30. 

Over the past 10 years, SVVSD graduation rates have increased by 13.8% for all students and 30.4 % for Hispanic students, said Ann Reed, the district’s executive director of assessment.
