With the wind farm fully operational, nearly 50% of energy delivered to Platte River Power Authority’s owner communities, which include Longmont, comes from noncarbon sources, according to PRPA.

The planning board recommended the annexation after city planners and a representative of the Boettcher family said the property at 201-203 Hover Road fits in well with Longmont’s future plans for the area. The annexation is not official until a vote by city council.

The Colorado Department of Human Services provides payment assistance to low-income customers through the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program, or LEAP. Through LEAP, customers can apply for payment assistance which is provided through federal funding.

In all-ages program, the Longmont Library is challenging participants to create haute couture from recycled materials such as bubble wrap, plastic and cardboard.

No ground has been broken along the corridor, while local projects linked to Diagonal Highway improvements in Longmont and Boulder will begin sooner, according to Audrey DeBarros, executive director of Commuting Solutions. 

Latino-owned businesses have yet to benefit from the Strongmont Fund, but a second round of funding will be dedicated to aiding businesses of color.

"While I'm proud that we awarded 23 small businesses with financial awards, I'm not proud of the fact that I (we) didn't do enough to help provide grants to businesses of color in Longmont."
