Arborist aerial rescue training Friday in Longmont's Thompson Neighborhood Park

The all-day training, which is being conducted in collaboration with a private tree care company, will consist of about 20 arborists climbing trees, simulating emergency situations and practicing rescues, according to the city.

The Longmont Forestry division is holding an arborist aerial rescue training on Friday in Thompson Neighborhood Park.

The all-day training, which is being conducted in collaboration with a private tree care company, will consist of about 20 arborists climbing trees, simulating emergency situations and practicing rescues, according to the city. Trainees will be split into groups of 10 or less and all participants will wear masks, according to the city.  No pruning or removal will be done.

Residents are welcome to observe from the perimeter of the park at 420 Bross St.,, but the city is asking that they stay outside the designated training area.
