Longmont Public Safety has issued an alert that a Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) named Russell Scott Ehrlich is currently living at 33 Eagle Ct. in Longmont. Ehrlich was convicted in 2013 in both Weld County and Boulder County for sexual assault with a 10-year age difference. The state of Colorado mandates police departments to notify the public about the location information of SVPs, which are individuals convicted of first, second, or third degree sexual assault, unlawful sexual contact, or convicted of child sex assault.
Ehrlich is one of six SVPs in the City of Longmont among 283 registered sex offenders. In the state of Colorado, there are 504 SVPs among 19,384 registered sex offenders.
In 2017, Ehrlich faced vehicular eluding and resisting arrest charges when Longmont Police attempted to detain him for failure to appear in court. The Boulder Daily Camera reported that he left his residence in a vehicle and was pursued by police. Officers were able to stop Ehrlich by using “stop sticks,” but he refused to exit the truck. A two-hour standoff ensued before police fired a tear gas canister into his truck and eventually detained him.
The Longmont Police Department also issued a notice for Ehrlich in 2019. That public notice said that “Ehrlich began an intimate relationship with a 15-year-old female when he was 35-years-old. The relationship lasted several months, over which time Ehrlich and the juvenile female engaged in sexual intercourse multiple times.”
The police announced a new residence for Ehrlich in 2021. After that, Ehrlich faced three convictions for having false information on the sex offender database in 2021 and failure to register in 2022 and 2023. He has also been convicted of felony menacing, 2nd degree forgery, theft, harassment, 2nd degree criminal trespass, and disorderly conduct, among other charges.
The Longmont Police Department stresses that using this information to “harass, threaten, or intimidate this offender is criminal behavior and will not be tolerated.” Visit the sex offender database to stay updated on the location of sex offenders in your community.
