The Firehouse Art Center is partnering with downtown businesses to offer creative activities, both as entertainment and as interactive opportunities, during scheduled times on weekends.

The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. and can be accessed from the museum’s Facebook page by clicking on videos. Longmont Public Media also will broadcast the concert series on Comcast channels 8 and 880 and at longmontpublicmedia.org/watch.

The newly appointed professional, full-time five-member Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission will hold its first hearing on Thursday.

Visit Longmont on June 15 announced the board "made the difficult decision to release Executive Director Nancy Rezac from her position at Visit Longmont due to financial concerns associated with COVID-19.”

The Firehouse is asking supporters to view a video and like, comment and/or share it as it vies for the funding. The video talks about the Firehouse Art Center's exhibits, programs and mission. 

The closure, which is slated to last through Aug. 14, is necessary as part of the ongoing Ninth Avenue Improvements project, the city stated in a Wednesday news release. 

“We did not make it a requirement in our face covering order that children younger than 12 wear a mask because they cannot form the requisite intent to violate the law in the same way that an adult can,” said Jeff Zayach, Boulder County Public Health executive director. “But that doesn’t mean we don’t recommend it."

The slowing of case increases is good news, particularly given that senior communities are tasked with protecting a segment of the population particularly vulnerable to the coronavirus, were among the earliest facilities impacted by the pandemic, and were hit hard. 

“Educators want nothing more than to return to their schools and classrooms, knowing in-person instruction is preferred, but it must be done in a thoughtful, safe and responsible way, taking into account not only the recommendations and guidelines of public health officials, but also the voices of parents, students and educators.”
