The bulk of Colorado’s coronavirus relief money earmarked for education has gone to school districts and institutions of higher education. While that money has mostly funded schools’ immediate response to the pandemic’s challenges, Gov. Jared Polis also set aside discretionary relief dollars for longer-term improvements to Colorado’s educational system.

In a typical year, the annual gala can raise around $250,000 between ticket sales and auctions. Money raised goes toward student scholarships, innovation grants for teachers, operational expenses, the annual Crayons to Calculators school supply drive and more. 

Students are allowed to attend in-person or virtually as COVID-19 level changes to Orange in Boulder County.

St. Vrain Valley School District on Tuesday announced it is switching to online learning for inclement weather days.

The eCredit Recovery Program, a hybrid learning initiative that allows students to recover math, social students and English credits by retaking only the concepts in which they were previously unsuccessful, currently has 720 students enrolled, according to Kerri McDermid, SVVSD chief communications and global impact officer.

The quarantine information will be updated once a week and parents can still ask schools for their quarantine data as well, Haddad said.

For the average parent, figuring out if schools are using proven approaches to reading instruction and following the new state rules still isn’t easy. That’s why a statewide dyslexia advocacy group, in partnership with a local school improvement consulting firm, created a free online guide that parents and caregivers can use during discussions with teachers, principals or other school staff.

The dashboard — which now includes information about the number of quarantines in the district — still lacks important details compared to other school districts in the state, said Laura Ruth of the SVVSD Parent Teacher Support Network During COVID.
