This week a controversy occurred among Longmont City Council members concerning Sunshine Laws.

Readers and writers love to meet authors, and Longmonters are no exception to that rule. So, for the seventh year, the Library is offering local fans an opportunity to meet dozens of local and Colorado authors at the "Authors We Love Open House" on Saturday, February 9, from 1 to 3:30 pm.

In 2018, the City of Longmont spent $25,488.75 placing classified ads in the Times-Call, a newspaper formerly based in Longmont which now publishes out of Boulder and is owned by a hedge fund in New York City. This is according to a Colorado Open Records Act request filed by the Longmont Observer.

Longmont City Council heard an update Tuesday night during the city council study session. The update was presented by Steven Kukik, Ph.D. on the outcomes of the Safety and Respect Cafe that was held back in September of 2018.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF A Longmont resident in the 1300 block of Cedarwood Drive reported vandalism to his vehicle. The case status is closed due to a lack of suspect information.

Pike Road from S. Main Street (US-287) to S. Sunset Street is scheduled to receive several safety and multimodal transportation improvements in 2019. We invite you to learn more at this neighborhood meeting.

The Longmont Museum’s latest exhibit Ansel Adams: Early Works launched Friday, Jan. 28, 2019 with an Opening Reception, complete with appetizers, a cash bar and live music on the Museum’s own Shigeru Kawai piano. Cocktail attire was requested, and many attendees complied, so a very happy evening, with a magnificent display of photographs to enjoy as well.

The need for a Death Cafe in Longmont seems very much alive. It is a venue for "group-directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief-support or counseling session", according to the Death Cafe website.
