“We are really envisioning this being a place where people can enjoy it, much like a creative monastery. We want to bring Johnson’s Corner to its former glory,” developer David Nassar said of the station now located in the Prospect neighborhood.

Nonprofits and other institutions administering community programs, such as city agencies, churches or schools, are welcome to apply through Jan. 15, said Eric Hozempa, executive director of Longmont Community Foundation.

The pandemic has posed a big challenge for everyone’s health and well-being, however, it is doubly concerning for older adults who are among the groups at higher risk for serious illness from COVID-19. Local groups and organizations have responded by ramping up efforts to ensure Longmont’s aging population is receiving necessary basic and emotional health services.

"By some estimates, 44% to 77% of people with COVID-19 lose their sense of smell. But many are unaware they have lost their sense of smell until they actively try to smell something that should have an odor, like scented candles. This is why we are encouraging people to actively try to smell something each day."

Presented by LeftHand Artist Group, the event paid tribute to those lost in 2020 and workers on the frontline of COVID pandemic.

Originally open to restaurants, gyms, nonprofits, hotels/motels and the hospitality industry, and personal services businesses, on Friday the county announced that limited health care services also could apply to receive care packages of personal protective equipment, cleaning supplies and sanitizers.
