Disease Control will continue to monitor mosquito traps in future weeks

The Longmont Main Street Chalk Festival on Saturday will transform concrete into canvases for 15 local artists. Although observers won’t be able to draw on the sidewalks as they have in years past, people can watch the artists create their works and vote online for their favorite. Two businesses — The Green Solution and Medicine Man — responding to a Longmont city staff request to get their opinions on home delivery of pot, which can begin Jan. 1, if local jurisdictions allow it, cited concerns over driver safety and economic feasibility. 

After the council vote, education and outreach efforts shifted to comply with campaign practices law, according to Jennifer Loper, spokeswoman for the city of Longmont’s Public Works and Natural Resources.

Jeff Satur, deputy chief of Longmont Police Services, in an email Monday morning said he hesitated to give specific locations “because the bear needs to be left alone. In most cases, a bear will move back to better territory once people or dogs stop putting pressure on it.”

The series is being presented by Boulder County chambers and economic development agencies, and input “will provide crucial data as we work with regional partners to develop and implement economic recovery plans for Boulder County,” the Boulder County Workforce Center announced in a Monday morning email.   

The incident was investigated by the Boulder County Investigation Team, which found police officer Kenneth Nix fired at a vehicle tire “to effect a felony arrest and in response to the imminent risk of death or great bodily injury to numerous individuals,” according to a news release from the DA’s office.
