The St. Vrain Valley School Board meeting was canceled for August 15, 2018. No reason was given on the school district's website for why it was canceled. The website did state that, "this Meeting was cancelled by the Board of Education President.

Twelve members of the Longmont Police Department gathered at Ziggi's Coffee, located at 1139 Francis St., on Sunday, August 12 to chat with Longmont residents during Longmont's first Coffee with A Cop event.

Every Sunday, since July 2014, weather permitting, Public Safety Chief Mike Butler and Dan Benavidez take a walk around Longmont, visiting different neighborhoods. The goal of this walk is to meet the people of Longmont and get to know its residents.

Longmont City Council will be holding an executive session on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the city council study session room.

Rider #1 Well TOP Operating Company is expected to begin clean-up procedures of the contaminated soil at the Rider #1 well site, located near St. Vrain Road and County Line Road. Rider #1 was plugged and abandoned by TOP Operating in August 2016.

The Longmont City Council's regular Friday morning work session was used this week to give a presentation on the new zoning and inclusionary housing proposals and to collect feedback from builders and developers in Longmont.
