Longmont Art in Public Places took submissions from artists and it now is up to the community to pick their favorites designs to transform utility switchgear boxes into masterpieces.

“We are thrilled to be able to adapt this much-loved event so that, even during this challenging time, our community can enjoy art by local artists while being safe and healthy. The arts are needed more now than ever,” Elaine Waterman, Firehouse Art Center’s executive director, stated in a news release.

The Summer Sundown Music Series continues every other week through Sept. 2, and will highlight a variety of musical genres and a number of community issues. It will do so virtually, with all the shows and talks livestreamed.

With approval from Boulder County, the Museum is inviting members to attend the three remaining shows in the series. Attendance is limited to 50 members per concert.

The Longmont musicians known as Clandestine Amigo have been signed to Boulder-based recording label Octave Records. The album is set to release sometime this summer, dependent on reproduction schedules.

Local artists liven up the dreary barricades installed last week in Downtown Longmont with their own creative twists.

The camps, for children ages 3 to 16 and will explore arts and crafts and science. Each camp will be held online in a secure meeting room with activities planned away from the screen, according to an email from the Museum.
