The city’s package of incentives to Costco is more than $12.99 million, according to city staff.  Costco expects to open no later than July 2024.

Through Dec. 11, restaurants can apply for grants of up to $10,000 to adapt patio space for continued outdoor dining per local regulations, according to a Tuesday email from the Colorado Restaurant Association.

Downtown felt festive for Small Business Saturday as Longmont Downtown Development Authority aimed to remind people to shop small and local as the coronavirus pandemic continues to take its toll on businesses and restaurants.

Small Business Weekend will entail three days of things to do downtown, according to the LDDA website. Activities will include the holiday tree lighting, ice carving demonstrations, seasonal decorations, music, roaming holiday characters, giveaways and complimentary ornaments, as well as artist pop-ups.

“We decided to make a pretty big strategic shift in the design of this event to kind of make it, COVID-proof,” said Karen Stallard, the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce’s membership director.

New realities are hitting the wine and spirits industry in 2020. Sales are up at stores across the local area but trends are unpredictable and many distributors have experienced shortages. While holidays typically bring a boost in sales, the transactions now occur over a number of days instead of one or two.
