This will provide an opportunity for all of us to seek new ideas, activities, instructional processes that will enhance the growth of instrumental music education.”

Executive Director Joseph Zanovitch and the HOPE team, using $100,000 in grants, developed the safe lots approach based on similar programs in California and Seattle. Zanovitch expects to formally unveil the Longmont version of safe lots next week.

A 26-year-old man was in critical condition Friday morning after he was shot by Longmont police during a confrontation at an apartment complex parking lot in which he drew a BB gun on officers. The gun looked identical to a handgun, Longmont Police Deputy Chief Jeff Satur said. 

The advisory group was formed after council in October voted unanimously to declare a climate emergency.
