Boulder County on Saturday moved to the yellow level of the state’s COVID-19 dial dashboard, which limits breweries and restaurants to hosting 50% of their indoor capacity.

“In order to make this program possible and keep the costs down for businesses, Boulder County is seeking volunteers to help administer the program. Volunteers can either be direct unpaid volunteers from the community or employees of businesses/organizations willing to volunteer the employees’ time for the program,” the Longmont Chamber stated in an email.

While many people might be getting extra screen time during the pandemic, not everyone is entertaining themselves electronically.

The program is good news for businesses that have been battered by the coronavirus pandemic and ensuing restrictions on capacity and services. Certification under the program will, in most instances, allow them to double their capacity.

While Babette’s is known for patisserie, crusty sourdough bread and wood-fired pizza, the business is poised to move beyond its roots thanks to pandemic-influenced changes. As possibilities for table service remain restricted, owners Steve and Catherine Scott are happily expanding into takeout.

The partnership is looking for businesses to provide a stronger sense of what kind of online support could help. Interested organizations are asked to complete a four-question survey about their needs.
