“Reading the stories, prosecutors and law enforcement agents have the opportunity to stand in the shoes of those who have gone through the system and come together to realize how complex the system is and what we can do to improve it,” District Attorney Michael Dougherty said. 

“We’re hoping to pay homage to the year that’s passed, the lessons we’ve learned, and to honor Dr. Martin Luther King by not only showing but being the light coming out of the darkness,” said LeftHand Artist Group board member Amy Heneghan.

At the beginning of the month, the library put out the call for submissions for the online All Ages Art Expo, which will remain open until Jan. 31, according to the website. Community members are invited to send any form of art, including drawings, paintings, photographs or knitting projects, as long as they are family friendly.

Though the album is available now, Lopez and his band will be streaming live from Stone Cottage Studios on Saturday to celebrate. Ticket proceeds will support effort to generate grant funding for musicians that have struggled to find work as bars and music venues remain closed or at severely reduced capacity during the pandemic.

In addition to being a free day, Saturday also marks the last chance to view the Día de los Muertos Exhibition that features community altars, or ofrendas, and the artwork of Colorado artist Tony Ortega.

To help bring music back into the lives of many across the Front Range, conductor Elliot Moore has organized a series of concerts that include world-renowned artists and the Longmont Symphony.

“I would love for people to take it as an opportunity to just slow down. And even though it feels like we've been doing that, it feels like we've been doing that in a high-stress way,” Firehouse curator Brandy Coons said. “But I think getting outside of yourself, and into a gallery space, and interacting with a work of art can hopefully encourage kind of a peaceful reflection.”

Education meets entertainment as this youth-led group provides a safe place to discuss social justice topics.

In collaboration with Carne y Arena, a virtual reality experience created by award-winning director Alejandro G. Iñarritu that explores the human condition of immigrants and refugees, Motus Theater is presenting “UndocuMonologues: Stories from our Undocumented Neighbors.”
